Overall Expectations for Uniforms

The following uniform requirements should be considered when ordering uniforms for your student. Teachers will discuss uniform requirements with students during the first week of each school year. These expectations are in place to ensure consistency between students and have been adapted from other uniform dress codes.

 

  • Uniforms must be clean, pressed, and worn properly at all times.

  • Shirts must be tucked in or rest on the waist (polos)., and the tie must be worn when the buttoned shirt is worn.

  • The tie must be done up to cover the top button and be neatly tied.

  • A belt should be worn if needed and should be black in color with no markings or logos.

  • No modifications, personalization, or style liberties are approved outside of the uniform standards. This includes adding pins, belts, or any other accessories that may detract from the uniform style.

  • Uniforms cannot be customized and are not mix-and-match. Students must wear the appropriate style as expected.

  • The Regular Dress is appropriate on designated days only (usually Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday).

  • The Regular Dress is appropriate for every day of the school year.

  • The Athletic Uniform cannot be worn to class as a uniform option.

  • The office may approve various options, or any other variation based on what is deemed appropriate for a specific event.

  • Teachers will communicate any alternate options to students and parents ahead of the date.

  • The Formal Dress never includes shorts for boys.

  • Sweaters cannot be worn with or instead of the blazer, but the blazer can be worn on Regular Dress Days.

  • Athletic Sweaters are not worn with the Regular Dress. No outdoor wear is to be worn in classrooms but may be worn as part of the transition from outdoors to indoors as appropriate.

  • Hair should be neatly groomed and of a natural color.

  • Hair accessories should be in school colors and modest in style.

  • Minimal jewelry is allowed. Watches, small earrings, and religious items may be worn, but no other visible piercings are permitted.

  • Only InnovOak School crested shirts and polos are permitted.

  • Undershirts must be white (if wearing one).

  • All pants must be worn at or above the waist.

  • Girls wearing the skirt must ensure it is no higher than 5 to 10 cm above the knee and suitable for the learning environment.

  • No hats are to be worn inside the school building at any time.

  • A professional appearance is expected and promoted.
