Late and Incomplete Work
Each assignment will include a due date that is reasonable and manageable for all students. If a student feels they will be unable to hand in the assignment by the due date, they need to communicate with their teacher. For Lower School students, the teacher monitors all work completion and adapts timelines based on knowing the students in the classroom. While this is true in Middle School, there are also more teacher interactions on a regular basis and the expectation is that Middle School students will advocate for their learning and speak with the teacher prior to the due date to make appropriate arrangements and set an extension date for accommodation purposes.
If work is not handed in or tests are missed, the teachers in Lower or Middle School will make parents aware of the issue. Consistent work issues do affect learning skills and these issues are often habit based. Teachers will work with parents to find solutions that can be supported at home and school to help the student make appropriate choices. These habits can be changed but require parents, student, and teacher to work together.
