How We Measure Achievement and Progress
Ontario Report Cards are usually written in prose and are written with a strength-based statement, followed by an area of growth, and then a next step for that area of growth. We believe that this format will work in our hybrid report card. Teacher comments will be clear, and we aim to make them straight forward and include specific examples that support what your child’s teacher is seeing in the classroom. Like the Primary School Report Card, we will share student achievement/progress in November, February, and June.
The report card measures overall achievement in subjects based on the following scale. Each subject or group of subjects is given a grade. Teachers continue to also use the Ontario Levels of 1 – 4 as suggested in growing success. Parents will see them on assignments and work that students do during a unit, with the final unit or grade for report cards being transferred to a letter or numeric grade. We use an overall grading scale that aligns with the grading that is expected for our Ministry Approved courses in Senior School.
