Comprehensive Learning Skills

InnovOak has revamped the learning skills that we assess on to move well beyond the Ontario standards. We assess on these skills across all grades in Preparatory School with a modified version used in Primary School. We assess on 7 areas and 3 mega skill sets which are much different and robust, going well beyond the Ontario Curriculum. Teachers will comment on the most relevant areas for your child and provide a detailed comment.

Foundational Skill Sets

The Seven Comprehensive Skill strands we assess includes:

• Communication

• Critical Thinking

• Innovation Creativity

• Implementation Follow Through

• Empathy and Diplomacy

• Resilience, Perseverance and Determination

• Technological Ability

• Self Assessment and Adaptability

Mega Skill Sets

The Three Mega Skill areas that we assess includes:

• Personal Leadership

• Time Management

• Self Regulation and Emotional Intelligence

Because these areas are purely skill based, we do not provide a letter or number grade. Students will be assessed using the Learning Progress Scale. Each skill includes 3 progress indicators for each area that helps parents and students understand their progress better. These progress indicators are the same for all students, but the expectations and levels of sophistication does increase as students promote toward upper grades.
