Coming to School When Ill

Children who are ill should be kept at home. Sending a sick child to school and requesting that the child not participate in some activities may cause the illness to spread to other students. If students cannot partake in a full program, they should stay at home, until they are well enough to participate.

In a Post COVID world, personal wellness is now valued over being sick in a public setting.

In those rare circumstances where a student is directed to remain indoors for an extended period of time to convalesce, we would ask that you provide a doctor’s note indicating the approximate time that would be needed for recuperation. A doctor’s note will allow us to make legitimate supervision arrangements along with providing us with other details that may involve classroom considerations such as attendance modifications, scribing when needed, or other programming allowances.

If you have any questions around this issue, please discuss it with your child’s teacher as soon as the situation presents itself. Because of the school size we are unable to honour requests to remain indoors for extended periods of time without independent verification from a health professional.
